Training Events in Singapore and Malaysia

Three training events will be hosted in Singapore and Malaysia by our distribution partner Building System & Diagnostics Pte Ltd (BSD). Bryan Klein from Thunderhead Engineering will be presenting the course materials.

Singapore – 4 days
March 3rd – 4th, 2015: Introduction to Fire Dynamics Simulation
March 5th – 6th: Fire Dynamics Simulation Advanced Course

Malaysia – 2 days
March 9th – 10th, 2015: Introduction to Fire Dynamics Simulation

Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) is a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) program specifically for fire-driven fluid flow. The four-day event in Singapore on FDS, is comprised of 2 courses – Introductory and Advanced. The first 2 days is intended for engineers who have basic knowledge in computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The next 2 days will be a progress to the advanced course where experienced users can update themselves on the uses of Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) 6.1.2.

Fire Safety is of utmost importance to all occupants of any buildings. From fire simulation to evacuation simulation, performance-based approach relies on fire engineering principle, as well as software modelling to achieve safe and efficient designs. The industry is going from prescriptive to a performance-based approach. It provides greater flexibility for the building designers to come up with more complicated designs, without compromising the desired level of fire safety. It is also an engineered approach that tackles project specific issues and threats as compared to generic code provisions.
